Palmers goes for gold with holiday comp

Palmers Brewery are offering a top prize of a week’s holiday for four in Dorset to promote their Dorset Gold ale. The holiday is timed to coincide with the 2012 Olympic sailing events, which are being held in the county next summer. Palmers are using the slogan ‘Go for Gold!’

The promotion launches for October half term and closes at the end of Easter 2012. It will run in selected Palmers pubs and free trade accounts across the South of England.

The top prize is a week’s holiday for four in a lovely Dorset cottage during early August next year. Palmers’ seafaring connections are well-established – Palmers pledges 5p from every pint sold in selected regions to The Chesil Trust, a charity to help the young or disabled discover the joys of sailing. Sales have so far raised nearly £10,000 for the trust.

Runners up prizes include the chance to brew Dorset Gold at Palmers historic thatched brewery in Bridport under the supervision of Head Brewer Darren Batten.

Everyone who enters online will receive a 10% discount voucher for use in Palmers Wine Store.

The competition is being supported with the following promotional materials:

  • Free Dorset Gold T-shirts for landlords to give away to selected customers.
  • Card leaflets for pub tables.
  • Dorset Gold Pump clip tops.
  • Website – www.dorsetgold.com
  • Facebook page – Palmers Dorset Gold
  • Full support on Twitter through Palmers established account @palmersbrewery

Sales and Marketing Director Cleeves Palmer said: ‘Dorset Gold is one of our most popular ales. It has increased our sales among women drinkers and those new to cask ale.

‘Dorset’s a great place to visit at any time and will be particularly exciting next summer when the Olympic sailing events are held at Weymouth and Portland. It really will be a time to go for Gold!’
