Loders Youth Club receive £400 from the Palmers Brewery fund

Loders Youth Club has received the sum of £400 towards children’s art and craft activities!

Thankfully, their eagle-eyed fund finder, Treasurer and Volunteer Youth Worker, Colin McReavie spotted a news item in the “Bridport and Lyme Regis News” advising non-profit-making organisations that Palmers Brewery have set up a fund to help support community projects.

Cleeves Palmer, Palmers Sales & Marketing Director, presented a cheque to Tina Cornish MBE, Youth Leader of Loders Youth Club for the last 38 years, supported by long-term youth workers, Valerie Widger and Colin McReavie together with member representative, Rhiannon Parker – who was chuffed to have taken home a bottle of (non-alcoholic) Palmers Original Ginger Beer.

Tina confirmed that, with no certain funding of youth work now available to youth clubs, this injection to funds was a very much appreciated contribution which would ensure that young people could create artistically and therapeutically away from screens and give them opportunities to develop hobbies constructively and keep them ‘off the streets’.

“We have a wonderful, long-established Youth Club with 60 members and with willing volunteers, both adults and senior youngsters, who with their talents can now enthuse and motivate youngsters with arty activities which are paramount to wellbeing and creativity – all thanks to Palmers Brewery. Volunteers can purchase the resources they need to encourage and take forward craft activities. What a champion Palmers are – to be willing to put something back into the community.”

The Palmers Brewery Fund welcomes applications from non-political organisations including sports clubs, youth groups, arts projects, schools, heritage initiatives and wildlife and conservation organisations that are based in the area and benefit life in West Dorset. Awards are made twice a year and the deadline for applications is 1st May and 1st November. Application forms can be downloaded at palmersbrewery.com/fund.
