Palmers ales have been brewed in one of Britain's oldest and prettiest breweries since 1794. The UK's only thatched brewery stands beside the river Brit a mile from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. There are more than 50 Palmers pubs across the region, all serving Palmers ales.

A story of family, heritage and quality

Palmers has been owned and run by the same family since 1896, with continued production for over 200 years. That continuity runs through everything we make. It is there in ales still brewed by hand on the same Bridport site, in brewers and staff who have given much of their working lives to the place, and in a steady insistence on doing things properly rather than quickly. Family, heritage and quality are what shape the beer, and the pubs are what brings it all together.

Our cask ales and craft keg are made with water from our own spring, the finest Maris Otter malt and whole leaf hops, in the traditional way. Alongside them sit our bottled ales, ciders, spirits and soft drinks, each held to the same quality from grain to glass.

Run a pub

Run a Palmers pub and you are running your own business, with a family brewery that has running since 1794 right behind you. We care less about a polished CV than about finding the right person, someone with the ideas and the energy to make a pub the heart of its community. You will have our support from the first chat to opening day and long after, with a tenancy that flexes with your trade and real people to call on whenever you need them.

BREWERY TOURS

Experience the heritage of brewing on a tour like no other.

Beginning in the brewery’s Malt Loft overlooking the river which historically powered the brewery. Our expert guides take visitors through the production process of our five award winning ales from the raw ingredients entering the building on the third floor and working their way down through the brewery.
