Cask ales

Cask ales

Award winning passion and quality from grain to glass.

Our range of cask ales

At Palmers, we produce a core range of five fine ales. All are brewed in the original Old Brewery at Bridport. They combine the finest ingredients with traditional methods that have built Palmers’ reputation since 1794.

We carefully select the highest quality Maris Otter malted barley and Golding hops, for full fruity flavours and a natural sparkle. We lovingly blend them into exclusive recipes, unique for each distinctive award winning beer.

Our Head Brewer represents the new breed of brewing. His 21st century experience and expertise blends the best of tradition with the latest scientific technology. We scrupulously monitor the brewing process, with a long careful fermentation for stability and character. All five live ales are then cask conditioned, for the perfect pint.

You’ll find Palmers fine ales in our own 53 pubs across the West Country – and in the many free houses we supply in the South of England.

We care about our beer from grain to glass and want to be sure that our customers get to drink the perfect pint, every time. That’s why we keep our own pub cellars in top condition and why we invest in the best dispensing equipment at point of sale. You can find out more here about our pubs and how to run a pub.

Plamers Hop Page Break Right

A session ale that blends fruity malt flavours with the freshness of Kent Goldings and First Gold hops. A rich copper coloured ale that's full of flavour. The Head Brewer’s drink of choice.

A traditional English style IPA, blending English Goldings for bitterness and Slovenian aroma hops to give a well-balanced best bitter. A favourite of Palmers for many years.

Dorset Gold is a stunning golden ale full of freshness. Less hoppy, thirst quenching and zesty. A blend of malted barley and wheat make this a very drinkable ale from Dorset.

This premium ale originated in 1994 to celebrate 200 years of brewing at Palmers. Malty flavours with just enough hop make this mahogany coloured ale the flagship of our brewery.

A story of family, heritage, quality… and beer.

Palmers ales are brewed in one of Britain’s oldest and prettiest breweries and have been since 1794. The only thatched brewery in the UK, Palmers sits adjacent to the river Brit just a mile from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. All our fine ales are brewed using water from our own naturally rising spring.

Our Head Brewer uses only the finest Maris Otter malt and carefully selected whole leaf hops to produce ales in a way they have been made for generations. Palmers historic brewhouse has a traditional Mash Tun, an open top Copper, along with top fermentation, this is the way ale should be brewed.
