Each year Palmers pubs are invited to pit themselves against each other in a competition to decide who has shown the greatest innovation and commitment to offering first class pub dining.
Licensee Sam Good said that it was all about team effort and constantly looking for ways to improve the customers overall experience of visiting the West Bay Hotel.
‘I’ve got a great team at The West Bay who are passionate about the food we produce and always determined to offer the highest standards of service. We have worked really hard in the last 12 months innovating our menus, revamping our specials boards, matching food and wine as well as food and beer and we are proud to have set up a fisheries license so that we can buy fish and seafood straight off the boat just yards from our front door.
‘We experimented with offering breakfasts last year hosting regular morning business meetings. It has been so successful we will be rolling out a full breakfast menu from Easter along with all day opening throughout the summer.
‘But it’s not just the food that comes out of the kitchen that is important. Everyone who works at the West Bay is constantly training so that we can offer the best standards of service. All the team can advise customers about the food on the menu, its provenance, information on allergens and everyone has¬ completed basic barista skills.’
‘The bar was really raised in this year’s competition,’ said Jayson Perfect, Palmers Tenanted Trade Director.
‘We had some fantastic applications but Sam’s stood out. What really sets the West Bay apart is the ongoing innovation. Sam trains, motivates and runs his team in both the kitchen and front of house to an extremely high level. From NVQs to our very own Palmers CPL Online training platform, each and every one of Sam’s team are constantly learning and gaining confidence in their abilities. A refreshing approach that is clearly supporting the growth of this fantastic business.’
