An upmarket new restaurant run by a big name celebrity chef is one of the ideas ‘on the table’ for The Three Cups site, reveal Palmers Brewery.
Palmers have spent the last few months consulting with town and district councillors, planning officers and the Save The Three Cups group to find a future for the site that is both economically viable and benefits Lyme Regis.
By working with all these groups, Palmers has now prepared a number of proposals, which will be presented to the public for comment and discussion in four to six weeks’ time.
The proposals include a ground floor retail use in The Three Cups building fronting Broad Street, additional retailing units at the rear together with a new restaurant overlooking Lyme Bay, which could attract a celebrity chef. Palmers’ architects are considering whether some letting rooms could be included within the scheme, offering accommodation to visitors. The plans also incorporate residential units, which are essential to fund the multi-million pound costs of developing the site.
John Palmer, managing director of Palmers Brewery, said: ‘We are committed to revitalising this site. Our architects are working on several proposals which we want to discuss with the people of Lyme before deciding on a final scheme to submit for planning consent.’
