Join us on our Ale Trail to commemorate 230 years of Palmers Brewery!

2024 marks 230 years of brewing here at Palmers. With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with Cask Marque to bring you a brand new Palmers Ale Trail. With Palmers pubs dotted from West Dorset all the way to South Devon, make your way through counties and explore Palmers pubs you perhaps didn’t know existed. Simply scan the QR codes at each pub to win Palmers prizes.

How does it work?

Firstly, you’ll need to download the CaskFinder app on your smartphone and register to join the trail. Then, click the signpost icon and start at your favourite Palmers pub, working your way round some of the most beautiful spots in Dorset, Devon and Somerset and making sure you scan your CaskFinder app at each location. You don’t have to visit every Palmers pub (unless you like a challenge!), you can win prizes for the following:

Visit 10 Palmers pubs and get a free Palmers 230 Year Ale Trail t-shirt.

Visit 20 Palmers pubs and win a Palmers Brewery tour for 2!

Visit 30 Palmers pubs and receive a free sample ale pack with a Palmers glass.

Visit 40 pubs and enjoy a Palmers Brewery group tour with Head Brewer, Darren Batten. Also, after visiting 40 Palmers pubs, you’ll be automatically entered into a draw with the chance to win a day brewing with our Head Brewer, Darren Batten.

What is Cask Marque?

Research for the 2017 Cask Report identified that 77% of beer drinkers recognised the Cask Marque plaque as a badge of quality. This means, when drinkers see the recognisable Cask Marque badge, they know they’re guaranteed a top-quality beer.

Formed in 1998, Cask Marque are an organisation who monitor the quality of cask ale in pubs. A not-for-profit organisation, Cask Marque is made up of representatives from breweries, pub companies and trade bodies with the aim of driving the quality of beer.

Offering an accreditation scheme in pubs, whereby assessors enter pubs without warning over 16,000 times a year and check all cask ales for temperature, taste, appearance and aroma. If the pub passes all these quality control tests, they receive a plaque, framed certificate and merchandise to inform customers they have won the award. The pub will then appear on the CaskFinder app, customers will be able to scan their QR code when visiting and tick the pub off their Ale Trail to win prizes.
