Cellar Champions Crowned

Cellar Champions Crowned

Winners!

Congratulations to Gary and Karen Needs at the Axminster Inn and Spike and Vicki at the New Inn, Kilmington, for being crowned our joint Cellar Champions this year!

Cellar Technical Inspections

What does it entail?

Every year our in-house Cellar Tech team, Martin and Ed, meticulously check every Palmers pub cellar to ensure it is maintained up to the highest standard. These checks are carried out as unannounced visits, so pubs and their pints are exactly as a customer would find them. Each pub is scored on their cellar management and the quality of their draught dispense from cask to glass.

This year, six of our pubs scored 100% which was a fantastic result. Due to this, we carried out another scrupulous check on each of the six pubs’ cellars to determine the two overall winners. After which, 69% of our pubs had scored 95% and above, securing them a 5 star rating.

Head Brewer, Darren Batten, said:

“We are passionate about cask ale and always ensuring your pint in the pub is in fantastic condition. We are incredibly proud of our licensees and the way they look after their pub cellars. Congratulations to our Cellar Champion winners and all of those who got a coveted 5 * rating. Lovely pubs serving great real ale.”

Supporting your local pub is of utmost importance to ensure it can continue to trade. Therefore, we aim to craft consistently high-quality ales and understand how important it is to check all our pubs’ cellars are maintained to the highest standard.

We are proud to be an independent family brewery producing fresh, local and authentically brewed ales. We appreciate partnering with so many pub business owners sharing that passion and serving perfect pints to customers.
