Palmers enter region’s biggest beer festival

Palmers Brewery is hoping to scoop awards at the South West’s biggest and best beer festival.

The Bridport-based brewery has entered four of its finest ales in both the bottled beer and cask ale categories, at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) South West Region Beer Competition 2011, held at Tuckers Maltings in Newton Abbot. This is now established as one of the UK’s premier beer festivals.

The cask ale festival takes place from April 14-16, however the bottled beer competition took place on Thursday, 24 March 2011. All results will be announced at the main event next month.

Palmers has entered Copper Ale, Palmers 200, Dorset Gold, and Tally Ho! in the competitions.

The brewery runs pubs in picturesque towns and villages along the Jurassic Coast, including great pubs on the waterfront such as the Anchor Inn at Seatown; the Cobb Arms and Royal Standard, in Lyme Regis and the Bridport Arms and George Hotel in West Bay.

In last year’s cask ale competition, Palmers scooped a Bronze award for Tally Ho! in the Strong Bitters class – the first time the brewery had been awarded an accolade at this event.
