The Anchor Inn at Seatown in West Dorset has reopened after a major refurbishment costing more than £1M, which has transformed the pub into one of the landmark attractions on the Jurassic Coast. The historic inn has long been famous for its idyllic seaside location. We have spent seven months carrying out extensive work to upgrade the facilities, creating a stunning terrace overlooking the beach and three boutique-style guest rooms with sweeping sea views.
There’s a spacious family changing room and shower for customers to freshen up before relaxing with drinks or a meal.
‘The Anchor Inn is one of our flagship properties and we have invested a substantial sum to revitalise the building and provide the quality experience that our customers deserve,’ said John Palmer, Chairman of Palmers Brewery.
Jayson Perfect, Palmers Tenanted Trade Director, said: ‘We wanted to keep the heritage and atmosphere of The Anchor while giving our customers an even better service.’
The pub closed for renovation in October 2013 and contractors battled against record-breaking winter gales to get the work completed for the spring.
‘The project has been challenging at times and it’s a tribute to everyone involved that these stunning results been achieved so efficiently,’ added Mr Perfect.
Landlord Paul Wiscombe, who has run the pub for the last 10 years, said: ‘The Anchor is looking really good and it is great to be open again. It is fantastic that Palmers have invested so much in the pub. Come and try it out, I feel sure that you will love it!’
For head chef Sam Hill, the new kitchen gives him the chance to make the most of Dorset’s amazing local foodstuffs: ‘I will be showcasing the fresh fish, local meat and great produce we have on our doorstep,’ he said.
