Market House pub Bridport

Palmers opens the Market House in Bridport

The Market House opens on Wednesday March 10, offering the ideal place to wine, dine and relax in Bridport.

The West Street pub has undergone significant investment that has sympathetically restored the property to its full glory. It will appeal to customers who appreciate Palmers’ cask ales and wines, as well as great food and service.

New features include a charming courtyard offering an al fresco experience and an informal dining area available for private parties.

Market House customers can enjoy a selection of quality local cask ales brewed by Palmers just a mile down the road, and a wide range of great value wines sourced from around the world.

The new hosts are the highly experienced couple Brian and Gloria Dodge, who previously lived in Bridport for 18 years and have been running pubs for over 25 years. Nearly 20 staff, including part-timers, have been recruited locally.

The menu is freshly prepared to order by qualified head chef Lindsay Merton and her team using locally sourced ingredients to create traditional favourites, including Lindsay’s famous homemade pies.

The Market House is open all day for food and what with the new menu and a carvery available Wednesday to Sunday, there is sure to be something to tempt everyone’s taste.

Gloria Dodge comments: ‘We always said that we would come back to Bridport one day but it had to be the right place. And this is. It’s the complete package.

‘Bridport’s got it all. We don’t need to go anywhere else. It’s Dorset’s top award-winning food town and we’re going to showcase that. We’re proud to be part of the Bridport community.

‘We’re all determined to make the most of it. We can’t wait to start serving all the people locally that we already know and we’re looking forward to making many new friends.

‘I want The Market House to be known and loved as somewhere that people always get genuine West Dorset hospitality and excellent local food and drink.’
