Family owned Palmers Brewery have beaten off strong competition to scoop the top award in the industry for the second time in three years, winning Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company (up to 500 sites) at the 2018 Publican Awards.

The national awards run by the Morning Advertiser are a culmination of six months of intensive judging. To win the award the company had to pass through a rigorous application process, the brewery and pubs were judged in a series of site visits and phone questionnaires and the winner was finally decided by panel interview in front of leading figures from the industry.

The award was announced and presented last week at a ceremony held at Battersea Evolution compered by Rob Brydon. Throughout the process the judges were looking for the company that attracted the top licensees by offering the best support package to enable them to thrive in a competitive market place.

‘The Publican Awards is the leading competition for the pub company sector and to win one is a huge achievement,’ said Ed Bedlington, Editor Morning Advertiser.

‘Palmers demonstrated that not only is it a superb business that is continuing to evolve, but it’s relationships with its licensees are first rate and are definitely something to be applauded.’

Collecting the award John Palmer, Palmers Chairman & Managing Director. said: ‘the Publican Awards are the top accolade in the industry and everyone at Palmers is hugely proud to bring this award home to Bridport for a second time. It is an acknowledgement of all the hard work our licensees and everyone at the brewery have put in over last twelve months.

‘Sometimes we grow accustomed to having such a wonderful choice of amazing pubs and inns in our part of the world and this is great reminder that what we have is exceptional.’
