Westcountry Cousins Brew Palmers Dorset Gold

Westcountry Cousins Brew Palmers Dorset Gold

A former publican got the chance to brew Dorset Gold at Palmers historic thatched brewery in Bridport.

Clive Warren, 65, of Salisbury, was runner-up in a competition to promote the fine ale, a refreshing and thirst-quenching golden premium ale (4.5% ABV), with a full and fruity palate, lightly hopped with Kent Goldings.

Clive said: ‘I’ve enjoyed drinking Palmers beer since the age of 18 so it was absolutely wonderful for me to be able to see first-hand how this historic brewery has come into the 21st century.’

Clive invited his cousin, retired BT manager Keith Phare, 72, who lives in Exeter, to come on the tour with him.

Head Brewer Darren Batten said: ‘We were delighted to meet Clive and Keith and supervise their brewing skills.’
