A flood-hit village pub in Dorset has closed its doors so that Palmers Brewery can repair damage caused by months of torrential rain. The New Inn at Cerne Abbas had to close for 2 months whilst extensive structural work is carried out.

The Claret Free House in Croydon has celebrated selling 1 million pints of Palmers Best Bitter. The Dorset fine ale first went on the bar in 1986 as a guest beer and was an immediate success with customers.

Everyone working in the construction industry now has to undertake asbestos awareness training. Annie McDonnell has celebrated 25 years as landlady of the Oddfellows Arms in North Allington, Bridport, making her the longest serving single licensee of a Palmers’ pub. Described by Annie as a ‘poser-free zone’ the pub is an outpost of traditional values.
